Chadwick Boseman Won’t Be Recreated In Black Panther 2

Chadwick Boseman won’t be making an appearance in Black Panther 2 after his tragic death, according to the creators and directors of the blockbuster movie.

There was speculation amongst fans that his character T’challa would be recast or Chadwick would be re-created on-screen using CGI. But Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed neither option will be happening.

Feige told Deadline magazine that; “So much of the comics and that first movie is the world of Wakanda. Wakanda is a place to further explore with characters and different subcultures. This was always and initially the primary focus of the next story. We’re not going to have a CG Chadwick and we’re not recasting T’challa.”

He added, “There’s also the task of honoring and respecting the ongoing learnings and teachings from Chad as well.”

In the first film, Chadwick played T’challa, son of the former king of Wakanda T’chaka (John Kani), who takes over the throne.

Chadwick died aged just 43 in August after secretly battling cancer. He had been diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 but this wasn’t revealed until after he passed away.

The news was confirmed in a statement posted to Instagram, reading: “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.

A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.

“It was the honor of his career to bring King T’challa to life in Black Panther. He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time,” Feige noted.
