The Emile Short Commission of Inquiry

The Committee probing the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence is set to visit the violence scene on Friday, March 1, 2019.

A statement from the Commission said the visit is to “to apprise and furnish the Commission with corroborative evidence or otherwise relative to the testimonies given before it.”

“The proceedings will be held on Friday 1st March 2019, at 10.00am at the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, La Bawaleshie Presby Basic 1 Cluster of Schools (East Legon),” the statement added.

A team of investigators assigned to the Commission last week visited the crime scene in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

The visit followed the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) failed parliamentary candidate in the by-election, Delali Brempong who claimed that there were “wounds” on trees to prove that the armed national security operatives opened fire during the polls.

Delali also said he was able to count about 15 holes created by bullets fired on trees and containers near his residence at La-Bawaleshie where some of the violent attacks took place.

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensah; Minister of State in charge of National Security, Byran Acheampong, East Legon District Police Commander; National Security Minister, Kan Dapaah; Minister of Interior, Ambrose Dery, NDC parliamentary candidate aspirant; Delali Brempong, Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George among others, have already appeared before the commission.
