Wizkid beats Shatta Wale at VMAs

Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artiste Shatta Wale lost to Wizkid of Nigeria in their nominated categories during last Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards which was aired from Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York.

The likes of Lill Nas X, Travis Scott, Justin Bieber, Beyoncé, among others took awards for their good work during the year.

Shatta Wale along with Wizkid of Nigeria were the only African artists nominated for the VMAs for their contribution to Beyoncé’s Lion King album.

Nigeria’s icon Wizkid won in his category of nomination for Best Cinematography for ‘Brown Skin Girl’ which featured him, SAINt JHN, and Blue Ivy.

While Shatta Wale missed out on his nomination for the Best Art Direction for his feature in Beyoncé’s ‘Already’ video.

Before the commencement of the program yesterday, Shatta Wale wrote in a Twitter post “If I win this VMA’s I will dash somebody one of my cars tomorrow…with just one question I will ask …guess the question.”

Few hours after he missed out on the award, he took to his Twitter page again with praises “God bless Beyoncé and Jay Z moreeeee for me…wow!!! What an opportunity…if I don’t even win, am forever grateful at least to see my name on an award show in America many have been craving to be on”.
